Samantha Akkineni gives an outstanding portrayal as Shakuntala, effortlessly conveying the character's strength, intelligence, and fragility. Dev Mohan, who plays King Dushyanta, also gives a strong performance, demonstrating the character's transformation from a haughty and arrogant monarch to a humble and sympathetic lover.

Mani Sharma's music is a highlight of the film, with lovely melodies and haunting voices that add to the emotional effect. The language is also well-written, with numerous strong and thought-provoking lines that will linger with the audience long after the film has ended.

The film does have certain shortcomings, most notably the slow pacing of the tale at moments. However, the overall impact of the film is so strong that these tiny imperfections are easily overlooked.
