Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) and Hope Van Dyne (Evangeline Lilly) are raising their daughter Cassie (Kathryn Newton) in San Francisco. Their tranquillity is disrupted, however, when they are assaulted by a band of mercenaries led by Kang the Conqueror (Jonathan Majors). Kang is a time-traveling warlord on a quest to gain control of the Quantum Realm, a microscopic dimension that holds the key to endless power.

To prevent Kang from unleashing his power on the world, Scott and Hope must join forces with Hank Pym (Michael Douglas) and Janet Van Dyne (Michelle Pfeiffer). They journey to the Quantum Realm, where they meet weird new species and battle Kang's army. Scott and Hope eventually vanquish Kang and his minions. 

Scott and Hope return to their normal lives at the end of the film. They are aware, though, that Kang is still present, and they are determined to be ready for him when he attacks again.
