The Northman  is a 2022 historical action film directed by Robert Eggers and co-written by Sjón. The film, based on the mythology of Amleth, stars Alexander Skarsgrd as Amleth, a Viking prince on a mission to revenge his father's death by his uncle. Other cast members include Nicole Kidman, Claes Bang, Ethan Hawke, Willem Dafoe, Björk, and Anya Taylor-Joy.

Story;


The story concerns Amleth, a young prince who watches his father, King Aurvandill War-Raven (Hawke), being murdered by his uncle, Fjölnir (Bang), in 10th-century Iceland. Amleth flees, vowing to revenge his father and preserve Queen Gudrn (Kidman).
Amleth is now a berserker on a Viking attack on Slavic lands, years later. He meets a seer (Björk), who reminds him of his commitment and tells him he must travel to Iceland to find Fjölnir. Amleth then dresses up as a slave and boards a ship destined for Iceland.


Amleth is sold to Fjölnir in Iceland, where he now lives as a peasant with Gudrn and their children. Amleth gradually obtains Fjölnir's trust and eventually becomes his right-hand man. Amleth's genuine aims, however, are to murder Fjölnir and avenge his father.
Amleth eventually finds a way to kill Fjölnir, but he is stopped by Gudrn and his little half-brother. Amleth, on the other hand, resolves to return Fjölnir and his family to Norway, where he would have the opportunity to kill them all in a single battle.


Amleth leads Fjölnir and his family to an isolated Norwegian island and creates a trap for them. Amleth tricks Fjölnir into a duel, then murders him. Amleth then murders Gudrn and his half-brother, fulfilling his retribution pledge.
The Northman is a harsh and violent film that recounts a classic vengeance plot in an innovative and aesthetically spectacular manner. Fans of historical action flicks, as well as anyone who enjoys spectacular visuals and great performances, should attend this film.
